Batters up!

Spring is finally under way, so that means that is now baseball season! Even though some schools have already started their season or some people have already started their leagues, it doesn't mean that you can't get a new pair of baseball cleats! However, you have to make sure that you choose the right cleat that will help you preform well! Here are a few steps that you should follow when picking out your cleats.

Step 1: Make sure to read the regulations about what type of cleats you can wear before buying them! If you are buying for a younger child you might want to consider a molded bottom instead of a metal cleat. This will help from hurting your child and it will also help you with what direction you should go in when buying your baseball cleats.

Step 2: Make sure to ask you coach if you are playing for a school, what type of surface you will playing on. This will determine what size studs you should be buying for your cleats. Harder, packed surfaces require short studs while softer, moist surfaces require longer studs.

Step 3: Make sure to measure your feet when going in to buy your cleats, this will ensure no slipping or rubbing of the cleat while running or playing. Another rule of thumb is to make sure to bring the socks that you plan on wearing for your games, this will ensure that you buy the best fitting cleats.

Step 4: Make sure to buy cleats that are made from leather rather than synthetic material. This will help with breathability of the feet and will likely last longer.

Below are some of the many different brands and styles that we offer here at Rogan's Shoes!

Celebrate Earth Day!

Earth Day had been around for about 40 years now and is celebrated every year on April, 22. It has created an awareness and appreciation for the environment. Improving our environment is a step-by-step process, and Rogan's Shoes would like to thank you for supporting a cleaner, greener environment in any way you choose to do it. One way you might choose is by wearing Birkenstock's! These shoes always had a strong preference for natural and sustainable materials, such as cork and jute. This iconic sandal features a cork footbed, leather upper, and it’s really doing its part to save the earth. One of the ways it’s helping is through the recycling of all the scrap leather and EVA material used to create it. Have a great Earth Day!

How to pick the right high heels!

High heels are probably one of the hardest shoes to pick out! There are so many different styles, heights, colors and the list could go on forever! Here at Rogan's Shoes, we put some tips to help you pick out the right high heels!

Here are a few tips to help you pick out a new high heel:

Life Stride Vivian Women's Mary Jane Pump Dress Shoes

First: One of the most important thing to do when going into a shoe store is to have your feet measured. It is best to stand and have you feel measured. You want to make sure that your foot fits into the high heel right so your foot doesn't move around. Also if the shoe fits right it will lead to a more comfortable high heel.

Second: Another important aspect of buying a high heel is comfort. When it comes to high heels, it is ofter hard to find that one heel that will leave your feet feeling great after and hour of wearing them.  The secret here, is to make sure you take the time in the store to walk around in the heels. We suggest 5  minutes or so, this will give you a little bit of a feel for what you will be dealing with. Another suggestion is the thicker the heel the more comfortable it will be, this doesn't mean that you should always be buying the thickest heel that you can find but that you consider first how long you will be wearing the heels.

Third: Budget we feel is an important thing to consider when buying high heels. We feel that you shouldn't have to shell out so much money just to find the most comfortable heel, but to have a fun experience! Yes, this process will take some time to pick out the right heel but finding a deal on a super comfortable heel is even better when you took the time to find what will work best for you!

With the above tips, we feel like you would be on the right track to buying very comfortable high heels! Just remember it's all about measurement, comfort and budge that will be the key to finding the happiness in the adorable high heels! Remember don't just go with what you think looks cute, but make sure to take the proper time to pick out heels that  you will be able to wear out more than once!

First Shoes for Your Baby!

Babies don't need to wear shoes right away. Wearing shoes can actually get in the way of learning mobility. Walking barefoot helps your baby learn to balance. When dressing your baby, stick to socks or booties that will keep their feet warm, but keep him or her barefoot as much as possible.

For special occasions, your baby will need some dress shoes so here are some tips when choosing a pair of shoes:
  1. Flexibility: Make sure that your baby's toes have room to wiggle around in the shoe. Feel from the outside to see if they are too tight. Also, make sure that the inside is super soft for comfort. Bend the soles to reduce stiffness.
  2. Breathability: Find shoes that have a breathable, lightweight material like soft leather, canvas or fabric. Don't buy plastic ones. These fabrics are flexible so your little one's feet can wiggle around easily.
  3. Roominess: Check the fit by having your child try on the shoes and stand up. Then squeeze your pinky between your child's heel and the heel of the shoe so you know there is some room. Because baby feet grow so fast, make sure you check every month.
  4. Type of shoe: Laces versus Velcro. Velcro makes it easier to get shoes on and off and you don't have to worry about re-tying the laces all day. However, your child may figure how to remove shoes and take them off when you don't want them to!
