Work Boot Guide Online

We know that work boots, while necessary to get the job done, can be hard to shop for. We've created a guide to help you figure out what all of the different features of boots are. It explains the different types of soles on work boots and what they're used for. We will be adding icons to the product descriptions of work boots, so a legend of what the icons mean has been added to this special web page as well. Finally, we've also developed a breakdown of the protection standards that fall under the ASTM rating guidelines.

There are 8 different options that are typically used as the sole on work boots and shoes including rubber, polyurethane, thermoplastic urethane, ethyl vinyl acetate and polyvinyl chloride. Each material has a different set of benefits to it. The breakdown of each of these soles can be found on our website. 

In addition to the different benefits that the various soles of work boots and shoes provide, there are other features that are included in the product design. A few examples include being security safe, waterproof, providing secondary protection from contact with electrical circuits and being chemical resistant. Finally, our website addresses the 7 sections of protection under the ASTM safety standards. Each shoe or boot comes with a label that will tell what features are in it that looks like the image below.

Finally, it is important to note that all of the components of a work boot or shoe must be a permanent structure in the construction of the shoe in order to conform to the ASTM standards. Should a feature not be permanent, it does not conform.
