Back to School Shoe Shopping
As August approaches, it means that the back-to-school season is just around the corner! Kids are getting excited to find out who their teacher is, catch up with friends and choose the sweetest backpack. Aside from school supplies, a pair of proper fitting shoes should be near the top of the list for back-to-school gear. We suggest you check your child’s shoes from time to time to make sure they are still working properly in regards to everyday wear and tear and growing feet. Keep in mind that many schools have restrictions on what types of footwear students may wear, so check with the school before making a purchase that might not be allowed! Below we picked out three different types of shoes your child will love for school…footwear can make first impressions, too!
Athletic Shoes for Gym Class, Recess, and Everyday Wear
When finding the perfect athletic shoe for kids, look for laces, Velcro or some sort of fastening system that will keep their feet secure throughout all their activities. Make sure their feet have enough room to wiggle their toes and breathe, because after all, a kid complaining about sore and blistered feet is the last thing you want to be dealing with. Rogan’s Shoes offers a variety of vibrant colors and fun designs that are suitable for children and will make them want to show off their new kicks to their friends. The Skechers Skech Appeal Pretty Pl girl’s running shoe is colorful, comfortable and creates a style that cannot be beat! This shoe has specifically designed ventilating and stabilizing panels that are ideal for everyday wear. The Reebok Twistform Jr boy’s running shoe features a rubber outsole wave design to allow for traction, flexibility and a great ride! This lightweight shoe will become a go-to for all the places he’ll be running to and from.
Sandals for First Few Weeks of Hot Weather
School may be in session, but it’s a good idea to keep a pair of sandals out for the first few weeks of hot, September weather. The Skechers Go Walk Move Solstice girl’s sandal is casual and comfy and will go with any sporty outfit that will keep her cool! This shoe features a goga mat cushioned footbed that she’ll never want to take off. For boys, we chose the Keen Newport H2 Water Sport Sandal to keep his feet fresh and ventilated during the day. A rubber guard protects the toes, and a non-marking rubber outsole delivers grippy traction. This will prevent your child from slipping on slick surfaces, perhaps in the bathroom or from spills in the lunchroom. Both of these sandal options are simple and comfortable, making each day a breeze to get through. Throwing on a pair of sandals makes the morning rush just a little bit easier and don’t forget to pack them a pair of athletic shoes on the days they wear sandals!
Casual Shoes for Cooler Days
Mary Janes are a classic and fun style that make it easy to complement a girl’s wardrobe! Let her go anywhere with the Mia Tallie Mary Jane girl’s dress shoe. With faux leather uppers, an adjustable strap with buckle and a chunky heel for a little extra height, this shoe will have her looking snazzy and polished. The other girls at school will be quick to copy her. The Sanuk Vagabond Sidewalk Surfer boy’s shoe will have him looking and feeling laid-back even through the hardest tests. The super soft, high rebound, molded EVA footbed ensures all day cushioning. The Sanuk Vagabond Sidewalk Surfer will keep his toes cozy for those crisp, fall days ahead. Your child will become a trendsetter with these casual options!
The first days back are when kids put the “cool” back in school. They share stories from the summer and show off their stylish new wardrobe-including shoes! Allow your child to voice their opinions about the shoes THEY will be wearing by letting them pick a specific color or design of interest to them. You get the best of both worlds by giving them an appropriate shoe that fits well and by letting them express themselves. Now say your bittersweet goodbyes and treat yourself to a little rest and relaxation!
