Home Hacks to Cleaner Shoes

Dirty outsoles you can't seem to get clean? We're right there with you. Rubber outsoles, especially those that are textured, seem to be the hardest part of a shoe to clean. We tried every trick in the book, from school erasers to Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser.

The only method that worked was good, old fashion toothpaste. Just look at the difference between the before and after pictures!

All you need to get started is a dirty pair of shoes, toothpaste, a toothbrush, a wash cloth, and some water. In our experience, any brand of toothpaste will work, but we recommend using one that is not colored. Sticking with a white toothpaste ensures there is no further discoloration.
