Sandal Fitting Guide

Wedge style sandals

Summer is here and that means you can finally wear sandals again. If it’s time to buy a new pair, here are some tips to find the pair perfect for you.

The first thing you want to do is some research on different styles and brands to find the one that fits you best. Finding the brand that fits your style and feet will make this process easier.

Knowing the size and width of your feet is important.  If you want to make sure you are the right size, stop in one of our 33 locations and have your feet measured.  When you get your feet measured or if you try on sandals, make sure you wait till the end of the day to do it.  After being on your feet all day your feet will be swollen and at their largest. This will ensure that you have the right fit when you try on your sandals.

Support is the number one attribute you want in your new sandal. Having a pair of sandals that don’t have the support you need may lead to foot discomfort. The sole of the sandal should be a little bigger than your foot and should be comfortable. Your heels nor toes should be hanging off the edge of the sandal.

Another factor to think about as you look at different sandals is how thick the sandal is. If a sandal is too thin, sharp objects may pierce through it and you also lose stability. Wearing loose fitting sandals can impact the way you walk as well as raise the chance of tripping or slipping.

In choosing a new pair of sandals you have to consider the type of material that it is made of. If your feet perspire a lot, avoid sandals that are made of plastic, rubber or faux leather.  These materials hold in heat and don’t allow the foot to breathe.  Finding a sandal that is lined with canvas, cotton or other absorbent but light material may add to the overall comfort of the sandal.
